IDA NÄSLUND
CEO / DESIGNER
My background is within textile- and fashion design with a special focus on pattern- and print design. Combined with a strong passion for nature and a healthy colourful future I'm running Mounid to create non-toxic textile dyes from algae/microalgae and to change the way of create - and perceive colours. I work close to researchers in material and chemistry and textile- and fashion companies. In 2019 I started the development of algae ink-colour for textile with funding from Smart Textiles with researchers from RISE, Research Institute of Sweden. From that, Mounid AB was founded. In 2021, the first product concept was verified with the support of Vinnova Innovation financing. That project was taken to a greater extent in collaboration with Wargön Innovation and companies within the Swedish textile industry towards industrializing the first algae ink colour. Right now, I lead the Vinnova-financed project; 'Algae ink for cellulose', with the aim of scaling production and introduce our first colour in blue for the cellulose market. Together with Science Park Borås, I'm currently also leading the textile work within the EU Horizon project 'LOCALITY' – "developing circular and sustainable value chains, linking industrial players to stimulate co-creation and bring new and innovative algae-based products to regional and global market".
